Goodreads Summary:

An epic and gripping tale of catastrophe and survival, The Passage is the story of Amy—abandoned by her mother at the age of six, pursued and then imprisoned by the shadowy figures behind a government experiment of apocalyptic proportions. But Special Agent Brad Wolgast, the lawman sent to track her down, is disarmed by the curiously quiet girl and risks everything to save her. As the experiment goes nightmarishly wrong, Wolgast secures her escape—but he can’t stop society’s collapse. And as Amy walks alone, across miles and decades, into a future dark with violence and despair, she is filled with the mysterious and terrifying knowledge that only she has the power to save the ruined world.

My Views:

This book is a beast and i was intimated by it for a long time. It sat on the shelf collecting dust for over an year but once i started it, it was hard to put it down. It is a first part of a trilogy and in that context it reads like an origin story. A government experiment gone bad which results in the collapse of the world as we know it.

The books starts and you are hooked within the first fifty pages. You connect with the characters and are interested in knowing what happens to them. Then something happens which threw you off completely. Personally, it took me sometime to get used to the change in story but once you get past the initial shock and the story moves forward it becomes this page turning epic survival saga.
It's essentially a vampire novel and before that puts you off, trust me it's one of the good ones. I enjoyed every bit of it. Justin Cronin's writing is exquisite. The characters are multi layered and the story is fast paced. The book is very intense at times and has been compared to The Road by Cormac McCarthy (I haven't read that one) and Stephen Kings works.
The amazing thing about this books is that even after reading almost 1000 pages and still wanted more by the end. It was that interesting. I loved the start, there were some hiccups in the middle but the end made up for it. I would definitely will be picking up the next books in the series. Give this book a read, i promise you won't regret it.

I am Alive & Some Changes

After an absence of two years I've decided to revive my blog. The only reason being that still read a lot and there are not a lot of people around me that i can talk books with. But there are going to be some changes and some new features, which are as follows:

  1. I will still be reviewing books but in addition I will also review movies, Tv shows, music albums or whatever take my fancy.
  2. I will not be participating the weekly meme's.
  3. My style of review will change from what it was before.
  4. I will try to review every book I read.
  5. And as the whole idea is to connect with follow readers and fellow Geeks, I will try to comment more and follow more people on twitter and ask you to follow me on twitter as well so that we can talk books.
That's all for now. Thanks for sticking around!!

Let's Get it Started!

As yet another year comes to an end and the resolutions keeps on flowing i decided the resolution that has been floating in the air for better part of my life is to write a BLOG. I have made some lame and not so serious attempts to do it before but this time with my new found love for reading has brought me here.

My love for reading started very late in life and for better part of my life i tried to stay away from the books as much as possible. But when i was in college i got hooked and since then there has been no turning back. I haven't read a lot of books but i plan to start it now. I love all sorts of books and has experimented with all sorts of genres but i really cherish a heart felt book with some essence. It doesn't matter if it's an adult book or a chick lit, a horror one or a YA book all that matter it should string a cord with me.

I would like to answer few questions before i start:

Who am i?
I am Esha from New Delhi, India. I am 23 years of age and love all things creative. I have recently found a new love for reading and that has given me a reason to write this blog. My other passion include watching and making movies, listening to music, writing poems and scripts and talking on the phone. Currently i work in media and love to travel.

Why I am writing this blog?
For the simple reason that i want to jot down about the books i've read and the books that i am dying to read and all sort of book related gibberish.

What all is going to be in this blog?
I plan to make this space a little different. Obviously i will post reviews, previews, my favorite lists and giveaways!. I will be also sharing the places you can buy the books from in India that is. Plus, i will be also sharing my other two loves: Movies and Music.

Which sort of books?
All!, I like all kind of books so i don't have really a criteria but mainly Y.A books of any sort (Romance, Contemporary, Paranormal, Sci-fi etc.) Chick-Lits, Thrillers etc

Which authors?
Again the answer will be all kinds. I am not going to pinpoint a single kind of a author or authors. I would really like to read books from different authors and genres.

That's about it for now soon i will be posting reviews of some of the books I've read in the past few months. Till then ciao and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
